Get the Guide
MONDAY, 12 OCTOBER
Dear friend,
I cut my own hair in a dream last week. I woke up checking it was still there, which probably tells you something. The scissors on the bathroom shelf looked different to me all morning (the dream version was terrible, for the record, the kind you give yourself at two in the morning and regret by three).
But even a bad one changes the face in the mirror. Hair is the one part of your body you can change without pain, so when the sleeping mind wants to talk about change it reaches for the scissors.

What People Have Said About Hair
It keeps growing, you can shape it without hurting yourself, and everybody sees it before they see almost anything else about you. People have said for a very long time that hair stands in for your power, your identity, your grief, or your sense of control.

Your identity

Tap the one that fits
Frazer collected stories from dozens of cultures where people believed that cut hair kept a link to the person it came from, so whoever held the hair held a kind of power over them. In the Book of Judges, Samson's strength lived in his uncut hair, and when it was cut while he slept the strength left him.
That was hair taken. Mourners across the ancient world shaved their own heads as a mark of what was gone, and the act has carried that weight ever since: something is ending, something is being given up. Who held the scissors is the question worth asking.

Why You Keep Waking Up at 3 AM

You fall asleep just fine.

But somewhere around 3 AM, your eyes open.

And suddenly, your mind is wide awake.

For many adults over 50, the real problem isn't falling asleep. It's staying asleep.

That's why a simple 30-second bedtime routine is getting attention.

No expensive sleep gadgets.

No complicated nighttime rituals.

Just one small change before bed that may help you enjoy a more restful night.

The Details That Change the Reading
If you did it yourself in the dream, people say it is about choosing, about taking hold of something. If someone else was doing it, they say something is being taken from you. If it felt like relief, the decision you have been sitting on may already be made.
The feeling in the dream tells you more than the image does, so these are worth asking before you get out of bed, while the feeling is still there.
✦  BEFORE YOU GET OUT OF BED
Tap one to answer it
1
Who was holding the scissors?
2
Did I choose this, or was it done to me?
3
What did I feel when the hair fell?
4
What have I been afraid to change?
5
What has someone else decided for me lately?
6
What would I do differently if it grew back tomorrow?
Just the one you paused on.

What to Do With It This Morning
Something about change has been sitting with you, and the dream found a way to show it. It did not tell you what to do next, because dreams are not instructions. They are pictures of what you already know and have not said out loud.
You do not have to act on it this morning. The image stays, though, and whenever today someone asks you to decide, or decides for you, you will notice whose hand is moving. Whether you picked up the scissors yourself or someone pressed them into your hand, the dream made the difference plain.
✦  CARRY THESE WITH YOU TODAY
I am allowed to change.
I choose what I let go of.
What was taken does not define me.
I know a choice from a loss.
This change is smaller than it feels.

✦  WRITE BACK
One of those six questions sat with you longer than the others. I want to know which one.
TELL ME WHICH ONE
You know whose hand it was, and that is enough for now.
Sleep well,
Dream Signs

P.S. The woman at the bakery had her hair cropped short this morning. If someone else was in the dream with you, tell me who else was in the room. She said, "I woke up and just did it," and went back to the till.
✦  TONIGHT’S PRACTICE
🌙
The scissors question
Before sleep tonight, write down one thing where someone else is holding the scissors and one thing where you are. The difference between those two lines is worth noticing.
TELL ME WHAT YOU WROTE
✦  MANIFESTATION TIP
💡
The change you have been putting off
Name one change you have been putting off, out loud, in one sentence, to someone you trust. Just the naming.
WHAT CAME BACK?
Something happen after a dream? Tell me what it was
