FRIDAY, 30 OCTOBER
| Dear friend, |
I sat with one of your replies for twenty minutes on Wednesday morning. I kept reading the same sentence, and my coffee went cold, which is the kind of thing I would normally not mention because it sounds like too much. But it was that kind of sentence.

What you sent
Sam, on the teeth dream: “I checked my mouth before I checked my phone.” Priya, on the falling dream: “The ground was still there. I was the part that moved.” And Jess, on sleep paralysis: “I told it to leave and it left, so I lay there for ten minutes trying to explain what just happened to nobody.”
Someone who asked to stay anonymous, on the lateness dream: “The train I keep missing is not a train.” And Daniela, on the hair dream: “My mother cut mine when I was seven. I have been growing it back since.”
I do not know which of these is the best. I keep rereading Daniela’s, though, which probably says more about me than about her dream.
