Dear friend,

The bag is still in the hall, and I have not thought about it since yesterday morning.

Which solves nothing, though it is the first week in a while that has ended lighter than it began.

You have done enough running for one week, at least in these letters, so there is nothing to do today.

There is one question instead, and I have been going round it since Monday without once saying it plainly.

Here it is, and it is shorter than anything I asked you on Thursday: what would you do if it caught you?

Do not answer it now, since the answer that counts comes while you are asleep, and I am not sure I know my own, which is the only reason I trust the question.
